A “Total Recall” of “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”: The Utilization of Memory in the Works of Philip K. Dick, Paul Verhoeven and Len Wiseman

Summary/Abstract: The current article aims to extend Alison Landsberg’s analysis of the movie “Total Recall” by confronting her position with the arguments made by its literary source while extending her observation to Len Wiseman’s remake of the same name. The comparative reading of the three works of fiction should shed further light on the role of synthetic memory and its actual relation to authenticity.
