Summary/Abstract: The paper contains a translatological analysis of Vesna Parun’s translation of Penjo Penev’s Poetry collection. Eleven poems from the collection are presented in the analysis, and the classification of translation strategies and procedures is based on Andrew Chesterman’s translation strategy theory from 1997. After examining the translations, it is evident that Vesna Parun strove to preserve rhyme and rhythm; to achieve this, she regularly employed the technique of changing or removing tropes (usually repetitions), which ultimately resulted in compensation and poetization of individual songs. Furthermore, there is a noticeable tendency towards foreignness, as demonstrated by the retention of those lexemes that share similar expressions in both languages despite the fact that their meanings are not completely identical.
