Summary/Abstract: The Democratic Party, founded on 7 January 1946, is considered to be the party that pushed the Republican People's Party the most during its time in power and received a large proportion of popular support against it. The DP, which was actively opposed to the CHP after its formation in 1946, failed to remove the CHP from power in the 1946 general elections. But the DP, which succeeded in securing the support of some of the press and the vast majority of the public in the May 14, 1950 general election that followed, has known about being in power alone. The Islamist press, which is the subject of our investigation, has been recorded with its support to Menderes in this process. Behind the success of the DP, which managed to gain the support of the majority of the national press in part of the Islamist press, there is no doubt that the liberal policies and religious freedom have played a big role. During the CHP Era, religious discourse and actions were filtered through secularism and subjected to a number of regulations, creating a state of exasperation with both the public and the Islamist press. However, the expulsion of Menderes into Turkish political life with an understanding of freedoms has enabled the Islamist press to give its full support in this direction.
