A contemporary textbook on music psychology

Summary/Abstract: With this article, I present my new textbook “Introduction to Musical Psychology” – a contemporary textbook on this scientific discipline. In the textbook, the fundamental knowledge on the topics basic to music psychology – characterization of musical abilities and musical activities – is brought together, updated and united with the current achievements of new researchers from all over the world. The boundaries are outlined – the highest and the lowest level of manifestation of each of the musical abilities. The content of the notion of musical intelligence is clarified. Unconventional topics for music psychology are also covered, such as the imagination, the creation of the performing concept for a musical piece to be mastered, the memorization of a musical work for the purpose of presenting it to an audience.
