Summary/Abstract: Critical thinking is a concept that dates to the early periods of philosophy and is still defined and dimensioned by scientists and its effects are observed in almost every field. Critical thinking is making a judgment because of analyzing a subject by thinking deeply. Each step in this process is related to the mental dimensions of the act of reading. In the process of mentally making sense of what is read, reasoning, in-depth thinking, analyzing, evaluating, drawing conclusions, and establishing cause and effect relationships, which are the steps and dimensions of critical thinking, are also used. Accordingly, this study aims to determine the views of middle school students on the relationship between their critical thinking tendencies and reading skills. The study was conducted in a phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research types. One-to-one semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 participants on a voluntary basis, and the data obtained were subjected to content and descriptive analysis. As a result of the study, it was concluded that middle school students think that there is a positive relationship between critical thinking tendencies and reading skills, they use critical thinking actively and consciously in the reading process, they have a positive attitude towards critical thinking, they tend to think critically in the reading process, and they understand what they read better thanks to critical thinking.
