Summary/Abstract: Alexandru Rosetti (1895-1990), the famous philologist and publisher, author of a lot of Romanian and French studies, for many years at the head of two famous publishing houses, Editura Cultura Națională and Fundația Regală pentru Literatură și Artă, was also a professor at the University of Bucharest, Philology and Philosophy Faculty. From 1948, he was a member of the Romanian Academy, a corresponding member of the Swedish Academy of Art and of the Yugoslav Science and Art Academy. The main goal of the ”Carol I” Central University Library, after its destruction during the December 1989 Revolution, was the reconstruction of the building and of its collection of documents. In 1992-1995, the Library received a consistent donation of more than 500 Rosetti’s manuscripts. The present study focuses on three of Rosetti’s manuscripts, having as the main subject our Oriental Latinity, with its rustic and conservative character because of the physical distance and different conditions of life, proved by a consistent number of words of the basic vocabulary descended from Latin: words used for the basic activities, the days of the week, the name of the months, of animals etc.The investigation was made from a double perspective: first, bibliological, in showing the number of pages, the sort of ink, blue or red, the number of lines from page, the annotations, and second, the analysis of the content, the arguments used by Rosetti to demonstrate the Latinity of our main vocabulary.
