Summary/Abstract: The article presents partial findings of the grant project TAČR TL03000259 Development of a reading comprehension diagnostics battery for 2nd grade elementary school students. The first part of the article briefly introduces the project and its implementation. The second part analyzes the comprehension level of pupils in the 6th - 8th grade of three different primary schools. The research sample consisting of 58 pupils was presented with new diagnostics texts. In the texts, basic factors such as reading time, error rate, error correction, and text comprehension were monitored. In more detail, the level of comprehension was examined in four stages (information retrieval, inference drawing, text interpretation and text evaluation). The obtained results were subsequently evaluated in both quantitative and qualitative terms.
