Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to reconstruct, albeit partially, a group portrait of representatives of the 1970s generation of Polish writers that emerges from Henryk Bereza’s diary "Wypiski ostatnie". The author describes Bereza’s late diaries, discusses the critic’s views on literature – especially regarding the division between written and spoken language – and seeks to answer the question of whether Bereza’s notes provide grounds for a synthesis of the entire 1970s generation.
