Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article are two paintings with a hunting theme: Pantry by Paul de Vos (1595–1678) in cooperation with Jan Fyt (1611–1667) and Hunting with Falcons by Jan Hackaert (1629– after 1685). These two works were acquired for the collection of the City Museum in Gdańsk (Stadtmuseum) during World War II. The article presents new attributional and iconographic research and points to the valuable nature of examples of Baroque European painting in Polish collections. It presents the artistic and formal values of both paintings, considering them in the context of other, similar themes and representations appearing in the art of the southern and northern Netherlands. It was established that Vos’s Pantry painted in cooperation with Jan Fyt can be considered a prototype, copied by painters until the 18th century. The article also draws attention to attempts to determine the history of movable objects that were transferred after 1945 in new historical conditions, and whose provenance deserves to be researched.
