Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims at drawing a comparative analysis between the water myths and deities as they appear in two diametrically opposed cultures, Romanian and African, with a focus on Nigerian myths and deities. The common thread of such a study is represented by the water element and the geographical form of the river delta existing in the two countries. The Danube Delta and the Niger Delta both share the same adoration and worship for the element water which is the ultimate symbol of life.
