Summary/Abstract: The school must follow changes in society. As science is constantly advancing, innovations are common in all spheres. However, the educational system is basically a system founded by Jan Amos Comenius in the 17th century. The class-hour and subject system has been widely represented for three and a half centuries. In this paper, we will present the features of that system, its positive sides, as well as what has been criticized. Finally, we will point out the challenges facing the class-hour and subject system in the 21st century. The research is of a theoretical-comparative character. We will also do a comparison of our school system and some other school systems in Europe, in order to see how much these systems match or differ from the class-hour and subject system.
