Summary/Abstract: Ensuring access to quality education for Roma children remains a pressing challenge across many European countries. This study investigates the multifaceted barriers and facilitators that shape the educational experiences and outcomes of Roma students. Drawing from a socio-cultural perspective, the research examines the complex interplay between individual, family, community, and systemic factors influencing Roma children's educational trajectories. Through a mixed-methods approach combining ethnographic observations, semi-structured interviews with Roma parents and students, focus group discussions with teachers, and survey data, this study provides an in-depth exploration of the key barriers faced by Roma communities. These include poverty, discrimination, linguistic barriers, lack of parental engagement, and cultural discontinuities between home and school environments. Simultaneously, the research highlights the facilitators that enable Roma children's educational success, such as strong family support, positive cultural identity, resilience strategies, and inclusive school practices. The findings underscore the importance of culturally responsive pedagogy, community involvement, and holistic support systems in promoting academic achievement and retention among Roma students. By offering a comprehensive understanding of the interrelated factors affecting Roma education, this study contributes to informing culturally sensitive policies and interventions. It emphasizes the need for a multidimensional approach that addresses structural inequalities, fosters Roma community empowerment, and cultivates inclusive learning environments that celebrate diversity while providing equitable opportunities for all students.
