Summary/Abstract: Culture of writing expression in school practice, especially in teaching language and literature, is a very important field of work because the spirituality of each individual as well as the spirituality of the human factor is reflected in different models of oral and written expression. The culture of expression has the task of fostering and developing a culture of students' oral and written expression. Students should be empowered to express themselves properly verbally and in writing. By mastering the literacy, students are able to linguistically shape their observations, thoughts and feelings. Man determined his growth in nature by words that emerged, branched, multiplied in form and meaning, as tumultuously as life flowed. And he was as strong as his powerful words. Hence the task of teaching the Serbian language is to draw attention to the importance of the ability of written expression. Writing assignments should be the crown of the systematic work on developing a written culture. Practice has shown that teachers do not pay enough attention to the planning, preparation, and especially to evaluation of written assignments, which negatively affects the development of student literacy. The aim of this work is to point out the importance of analyzing and evaluating written assignments in lower grades of primary school and pointing out more good points as well as possible shortcomings of the written assignment, to emphasize values and not overlook the omissions.
