Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to examine the effect of the pandemic on import and export flows for the ten leading commodity groups of Bulgaria. The object of research is the foreign trade in goods of Bulgaria, and its subject is the dynamics in the import and export of the ten leading commodity groups in terms of import and export for the period 2018–2020. The leading hypothesis is tied to the statement that regardless of the pandemic in 2020 Bulgaria's economy maintains its open character and continues to add value to GDP with objective corrections of the value indicators of imports and exports for the leading commodity groups. The results of the analysis are theoretical and practical. Theoretically, two analytical indicators for assessing trends in imports and resp. exports, measuring the concentration and diversification of the leading ten commodity groups relative to other trade flows. On an empirical level, verbal-graphic models are reached, illustrating the trend of the leading ten commodity groups in terms of imports and exports for the period 2018–2020, deriving two groups in terms of imports and five in terms of exports, which, regardless of the pandemic, report an increase in value expression for the pandemic year 2020 compared to the pre-pandemic year 2019
