Summary/Abstract: Human trafficking is a global phenomenon. Preventing and combating it requires well-developed legislation that allows authorities around the world to work together to hold perpetrators criminally responsible. International conventions in the fight against trafficking in human beings must be ratified by as many countries as possible, and their provisions must be implemented at national level. No country can fight this phenomenon alone. The constant effort of all of us will lead to lessening its effects on society in general. Legislation requires mechanisms to punish the perpetrators and support the victims. Anyone can become a victim of human trafficking. This is why we all need to be involved in raising awareness of this scourge.
