Summary/Abstract: The prose poem remains a controversial topic in literary criticism today, challenging the clear definitions of “poem” and “prose”. This study provides an overview of major theories on the prose poem and its historical context, focusing on its role in Charles Baudelaire’s work, particularly in “Le Spleen de Paris” (1869). It reveals the prose poem’s significance as an influential literary genre that defies conventions, enriching our understanding of the interplay between poetry and prose.
