About patriotism with dialogue with Tischner

Summary/Abstract: In the European tradition, patriotism was associated with something positive. In modern times, this situation has changed significantly – the value of patriotism is increasingly questioned and even denied. The aim of the article is to seek an answer to the question whether in today’s reality – increasingly globalized and dominated by Internet culture – there is still space for some sensible form of patriotism? First, it will be shown how the understanding of patriotism changes in various contexts of contemporary culture, and then reference points for the understanding of Polish patriotism will be outlined. As an example of an interesting vision of patriotism, which can be an important voice nowadays, we will mention the concept of Józef Tischner, who was strongly inspired by Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s thought in these matters.
