Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is an attempt to interpret the phenomenon of war using the philosophical concept of the axiological Self by Józef Tischner. For this purpose, the most important elements of the above concept were used: egological solidarity, intentionality, privacy, irreality, individuality and positivity. These concepts were used to interpret, in particular, such issues as: the attitude of a citizen towards the homeland, the impact of war on a person, the attitude of a soldier, and military actions that threaten human dignity. The final interpretation allowed us to show that during the war not only the “ontology of war”, but also the “axiology of war” plays an important role.
