Summary/Abstract: Despite the growing appeal of the cultural-historical approach, there are still many of Vygotsky’s ideas that remain unrecognised and unexploited in educa-tional practice. One such idea is the concept of developmental activity knots. The article addresses the process of formation of activity knots and the developmen-tal transformations occurring in them. The example analysed is an extract from one of the sessions conducted in a youth club where we worked with teenagers at risk of social exclusion. They experienced cultural migration when they had to find them-selves in a system of social relations that was new to them after being placed in an educational centre. The analysis of the changes occurring in the process of establish-ing knots of activity between adolescents and adults enabled us to identify the char-acteristics of the knots and the conditions in which they take on a developmental character.
