Summary/Abstract: For over thirty years, Poland has been an area of intense social, politi-cal, cultural, and economic changes. These transitions also concern the situation of women. The political transformation resulted in the intensive development of the economy, which in turn broadened the possibilities of choosing a professional career path in all social groups. Women have undergone a special change in the profes-sional field. However, their new professional roles are still realized alongside those traditional, culturally rooted in Polish society. In the article, I describe the process of confronting contemporary successful Polish women with the roles embedded in the figure of the Polish Mother as the socialization heritage (not only) of the communist period. The research carried out on a purposefully selected group of 12 women was carried out using a narrative interview. The analysis of the research material focused on three basic elements of the figure of the Polish Mother, i.e., the defined roles of the mother, partner, and Polish woman.
