Summary/Abstract: The article presents the interpretation of the Pentecostal term “baptism with the Holy Spirit” by Heribert Mühlen, one of the leading pneumatologists of the 20th century, and theologians of the Catholic charismatic renewal movement. Mühlen highlights the connection between the sacraments of baptism and confirmation and the “experience of the Spirit.” Therefore, the German theologian strong emphasis on the experience of Jesus’ baptism in Jordan, and on the experience of Pentecost for the Church. In his opinion, every believer can and should draw power for spiritual life from both of these events. Mühlen introduces a new concept of “renewal of the Spirit” understood as “experience of the Spirit” instead of the term “baptism with the Holy Spirit.” The “renewal of the Spirit” is a permanent process, not a one-time process, and its Pentecostalism is the source of the church’s growth.
