Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to present the profile of Zygmunt Noskowski, a Polish composer, conductor, teacher and publicist. He was a valued music teacher, creator of the symphonic poem Step, but also many other forms of music. A few publications on him, mainly present and discuss his composing activities. There are few publications devoted to the composer’s pedagogical activities. The magazines from the late XIXth and early XXth centuries proved to be valuable sources on this subject. These are various periodicals: daily newspapers but also magazines on the artistic and the literary topics. It is worth emphasizing his great merits in the field of the music pedagogy. It is based on the theoretical and the practical assumptions. Refers to, among others to the history of music or the problems of the musical culture. These issues were the subject of the research by Zygmunt Noskowski, who himself was the music teacher in the various institutions, a keen observer of the musical life and a great advocate of musicalizing the Polish society, familiarizing him with the works of the musical literature, especially works of the Polish composers. Pedagogical activity covered almost all areas of his work.
