Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to emphasise the situation of Polish language – an element of Polish spiritual culture – in the first decade of the 19th century in “Belarussian Polesie region” based on information introduced by Józef Weyssenhoff in his novel The Forest. The literary work, which constitutes the final part of the Lithuanian cycle, is dedicated to Weyssenhoff’s Belarussian novel The Forest. The plot takes place in administrative district situated in Ptycz river basin, the central part of the “Belarussian Polesie region”. Notably, The Forest contains remarkably picturesque descriptions of the area. In addition, the author famous for his chronicler’s precision in mapping reality of the Eastern Borderlands, presented numerous interesting facts concerning Polish tradition and Polish language in his novel. The Forest provides valuable information considering the variety of Polish language in terms of quality and usage among inhabitants of Polesie region.
