Summary/Abstract: The article provides an overview of the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022. It outlines the context of the events that directly led to the Russian aggression, followed by an illustration of the four phases of the 2022 campaign: the Russian offensive on Kiev, the battle for Donbas, Ukraine’s seizure of the strategic initiative, and preparations for active combat deployment by spring 2023. The final section of the article outlines the implications of the year long campaign in military, economic, domestic, international, and sociocultural terms.
