The Choked Sobs of the World: The Image of Old Age in Selected Poems by Desanka Maksimović and Urszula Kozioł

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to show the ways of illustrating old age in the poetry of DesankaMaksimović and Urszula Kozioł. Making the experience the supreme research categoryallowed for empathic contact with the works of the Serbian and the Polish artist, hermeneuticreading of their poems. Attention was focused on a few issues, such as the passing of life,the importance of creative activity, love, overcoming physical limitations, loneliness, and thepassing of loved ones. In the final part there are indications that old age can offer to youth.
