Summary/Abstract: The Nikopol fortress is located in the northwestern part of the modern city of Nikopol. It played an important role in the last years of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and the first centuries of the Ottoman Empire. It is the subject of many studies and long archaeological excavations. In 2021, the excavation of the fortress was resumed, which made it possible to shed light on the period of construction of the fortress and to clarify some important problems of the fortification of the site.
