Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the theoretical concept of logistics coordination, which assumes the wide involvement of the logistics operator (logistic service provider) in active planning, implementation and delivery of logistics, support and VAS services in the area of the distribution network. The article discusses examples of partial implementation of the concept on the markets and describes a new solution that is intended to show another aspect of logistics coordination, namely its impact on the implementation of sustainable development assumptions. The assumptions of sustainable development concern two pillars related to ecology and work ergonomics, presented by means of optimization in the area of management of cartons intended for shipment as part of outsourcing activities. This approach is possible thanks to the use of modern data processing and presentation technology and the operator's ability to take over some functions of logistics coordination. The article also outlines further research perspectives in the field of logistics coordination in the realities of industrial practice in distribution networks in which there is a logistics operator providing services under contract logistics for manufacturing enterprises and enterprises in the e-commerce industry.
