In conclusion

Summary/Abstract: This volume is the product of a colloque at a specific time (March 2010) at a specific place (the Vila Lanna in Prague). It was peopled by Byzantinists and Slavonicists, art historians and literary scholars. We all came with different expectations; the image of the colloque in our minds’ eyes took different shapes, through knowledge of the context perhaps of an Hermeneia colloque, or of the city of Prague, or (the lucky ones) of conferences organised by Vladimír Vavřínek, of the desire to continue old debates among new friends, or simply through the intellectual excitement of the subject and its journey so far among Byzantinists.
