Summary/Abstract: The text presented here aims to reveal some specifics of the reactions of the Balkan states to the challenges posed by the severe economic crisis resulting from the Great Depression of 1929-1933. The focus on Romania and Greece and the comparison between the two seemingly quite different as a political, but also as a cultural and as an economic tradition, countries aim to demonstrate the similarities in the approaches to overcoming the consequences of the crisis situation. The conclusions reached by the observations of the two countries become even more valid in comparison with the general European trends of the early and mid-1930s.
