Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the opinions of employees of selected Polish organizations on discipline, with particular emphasis on the issue of punishment. The article focused on the respondents' opinions regarding the frequency of punishment, the dominant forms of punishment, the most common informal penalties used in organizations employing the respondents and the emotions accompanying the respondents when they are subject to punishment. The research was carried out using the CAWI technique with 393 employees representing various organizations in Poland. Respondents declared that formal penalties are generally used very rarely, but informal penalties are used in most organizations employing respondents. The use of penalties most often results in a decrease in work motivation and lack of job satisfaction. The punishments were also accompanied by a sense of injustice.
