Summary/Abstract: This article provides a critical discourse analysis (CDA) of one diplomatic speech made by European Union (EU) diplomat who is directly or indirectly addressing Arab audiences. The speech was made by Catherine Ashton (Ashton, 2014) who is High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The purpose of this speech was created to the European Parliament in 2014, referring developments in the Arab Spring and Ukraine in particular. This speech’s CDA is applied from the theoretical perspectives noted through my research.
