NON-FINANCIAL ENTERPRISES IN 2023 SEEN THROUGH THE EYES OF ENTREPRENEURS

Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The aim of this article is to present Polish non-financial enterprises in 2023 against the background of previous years, as seen by the entrepreneurs themselves in surveys completed for the purposes of rapid monitoring of the National Bank of Poland. The author of the study has set himself the task of selecting, interpreting and commenting on selected measures and factors of business activity, as well as the characteristics that make up the landscape of microeconomic activity in Poland in 2023. Research method – The article uses a critical analysis of subject literature, historical analysis, and a comparative analysis of non-financial enterprises operating in Poland. Results – Both the economic forecasts formulated before the start of 2023, as well as the results and partial assessments made during this year, suggested that it would be very difficult, perhaps even crisis-like, for economic activity at the microeconomic level in Poland, as well as in most other countries. Hard data is not yet available, but the survey shows that the corporate sector in Our Country has coped quite well with external supply shocks generated mainly by the war in Ukraine. Polish companies avoided recession and the so-called soft landing scenario came true. Originality / value / implications / recommendations – The main advantages of this article lie in the topicality of the issues discussed and the relative comprehensiveness of the picture of Polish enterprises in 2023. Finally, an important issue is showing the relationship between what is happening at the microeconomic level and the prosperity of the macroeconomic sphere.
