Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the importance of using simulation platforms for improving road user safety as well as other analyses in the area of civil safety. The subject was inspired by the introduction of a human body model to the CYBID V-SIM simulation package. The authors present examples of studies from the road safety area wherein simulation packages were used. The rationale behind the need for further development of simulation platforms is presented. As a summary, based on prior studies from abroad, the authors conclude that there is major potential in the collaboration between the public service sector and scientific communities. Such collaboration could lead to the development of a Polish in-depth road crash database, which would contain data useful from the point of view of crash biomechanics and forensic medicine, and could aid in public education.
