Summary/Abstract: The article highlights the steps taken by the member states of the European Union to introduce organizational and legal solutions to eff ectively combat economic crime within the European Union. These measures led to the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor’s Offi ce, which became operational on June 1, 2020. The article discusses the main reasons for the establishment of this body, as well as its powers and organizational structure. It also examines the eff ects of the European Prosecutor’s Offi ce operation to date and suggests possible changes that could further enhance the eff ectiveness of the fi ght against economic crime in the European Union in the future. The main research problem of this study is whether the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor’s Offi ce was justifi ed and whether the fi rst years of its operation confi rm the advisability of its establishment in order to protect the economic interests of the European Union. This study uses theoretical research methods such as analysis, synthesis, comparison, juxtaposition, generalization and deduction.
