Summary/Abstract: Recently, it has been noticed that studies on Zaydiyya in terms of individuals and books, history, interpretation and literature have emerged in almost every field of Islamic sciences. Although the fact that Turkish academe is addressing the tradition in various aspects can be seen as a positive contribution, the fact that the studies in this direction will constitute an intellectual source for subsequent studies as a cumulative, makes these studies even more important. Kadir Demirci’s book, devoted to Zaydiyya’s hadīth understanding, has a very important position in this respect. This introductory article, which deals with the author’s work titled Zaydiyya and Hadīth from various aspects, aims to share the special value of the work with those interested, especially with the ones interested in the hadīth academy. Zaydiyya, a branch of the Shīʿa tradition, emerged as a political manifestation of allegiance to Zayd b. ʿAlī (d. 122/740) after his rebellion, began to acquire an intellectual and theological structure with al-Qāsim al-Rassī (d. 246/860), gained an institutional identity with Yaḥyā b. al-Ḥusayn (d. 298/911) and became an independent organization, and has continued its existence in the Islamic cultural and intellectual tradition until today despite occasional interruptions. It has made significant contributions to the rich Islamic accumulation in many fields with the views it has adopted, the political attitude it has put forward and the acquis it has produced. Therefore, it is important for Muslim communities to examine other different/unique formations in various aspects and to reveal their views and acceptances based on their own sources. In this respect, Zaydiyya and Hadīth, which deals with the sect’s understanding and approaches to hadīth and sunnah reflected in the classical and modern period from a historical course and a scientific perspective, attracts attention with its field of interest, scope, method and substantial content and deserves presentation.
