INVESTIGATION OF THE CONCEPT OF FATHER INVOLVEMENT IN CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOKS

Summary/Abstract: In this study, it is aimed to determine how the concept of father involvement is reflected in children's picture books addressed to the preschool period. The study focuses on the concept of father involvement and is based on the conceptualization of father involvement in the literature, as well as examining books that are directly related to the father-child relationship and have the word “father” in the title, so it has the peculiarity of being the first. Document analysis was used in accordance with the purpose of the study. Sixteen children's picture books selected by criterion sampling method were analyzed. Content analysis (categorical analysis and frequency analysis) was used in the analysis of the data. The findings that emerged as a result of the examination of children's picture books were considered on the basis of the dimensions of father involvement. The similarities and differences of the study with other study findings in the literature were discussed.
