Summary/Abstract: This study aims to elucidate the significance of foreign policy for a nation, the challenges inherent in the foreign policy pursued by Turkey, and the impacts of relations maintained with neighboring countries on both domestic and international politics, with a focus on the Syrian policy. The study encompasses a comprehensive analysis of foreign policy, with a particular focus on Turkish foreign policy, especially within the context of Turkey's diplomatic endeavors in the twenty-first century. While being a significant realm of Turkish foreign policy, Turkey's policies towards Syria, believed to have repercussions not only on the Western countries but also on other Middle Eastern nations, have been examined within the context of post-2000 developments. The study confirms that due to Turkey's position in the field of foreign policy, it has long embraced a Western-oriented and status-quo approach, and the notion that this approach has had adverse implications on its relations with the Middle East and neighboring countries. However, it has been observed that the changes in the field of foreign policy during the 2000s have also had an impact on Syria policies, thus leading to the identification of positive relations, particularly in the economic sphere. Furthermore, the recent trend of the two countries' relations recovering after being strained again during the Arab Spring is considered to be a result of the influence of economic concerns on foreign policy. However, it has been observed that Turkey's relations with Syria have significant implications for both its domestic and foreign policies, particularly when compared to its relations with other neighboring countries.
