Summary/Abstract: Identity reconstruction can be defined as consciously developing new cultural elements (material immaterial) and narratives that would act as a counterbalance to a past in which a group was inhibited or restricted to develop a highly distinct cultural heritage. This does not mean that this group did not have an identity of its own, this is the part in which the mindset on which the national state was created – uniqueness being used in evaluating worthiness and moral standing. Each group had an identity, and a cultural heritage, this is fact that is not up for debate. The issue comes with the fact that, with the birth of the national state, the idea of an impressive heritage that is highly rich in intricate relics and oral traditions that will emphasise the greatness, heroism and strong moral standing.
