Summary/Abstract: Sicily, conquered by Muslims in the 9th century, remained under their dominion for approximately two and a half centuries. Although the political dominance of Muslims in Sicily lasted for two centuries, the scientific, social, cultural, administrative, and various other influences of Islamic heritage on the island continued for many centuries. This situation made Sicily, like Al-Andalus, another gateway of Islamic culture and civilization to the West. The role of Sicily, where a mosaic structure influenced by Islamic, Greek, and Latin civilizations had emerged, in shaping the intellectual accumulation and secular thought of King Frederick II is inevitable. Raised in the multicultural environment of Sicily, which had been transformed into a mosaic by the influence of civilizations, especially Islamic, Greek, and Latin, King Frederick II developed a cosmopolitan mindset from an early age. His inclination towards a thought system that prioritized science and logic over scholastic thought played a role in shaping the court life accordingly. Throughout his life, King Frederick II showed great respect for and patronage of scientists, thus contributing significantly to the development of scientific and cultural activities in Sicily during his reign. As a result of translation activities of scientific and philosophical works, including classical texts, in Sicily, the foundations of the Italian Renaissance were laid during the era of King Frederick II. This study will explore the scientific and cultural activities that took place in Sicily during the reign of King Frederick II.
