Summary/Abstract: The article examines the structure and approaches to compiling the lexical minimum for the A1 level of Ukrainian as a foreign language. Previous studies on the creation of language minimums, as well as the language material of the analyzed dictionary, have been researched regarding the compliance of the study stage with the "Standardized requirements for the Ukrainian language as a foreign language". The article emphasizes the significance of the work carried out by author’s colleagues. The dictionary contains a selected number of lexemes, as well as communicatively oriented examples of the use of these lexemes in sentences. The extensive experience of working with international students is evidenced by the author’s attention to the dictionary, not only in terms of vocabulary and grammar but also the emphasis on words and the use of various intonation constructions in the examples, which is especially important at the initial stage of language learning. The thematic catalog of the dictionary proves to be helpful.
