Problems In The Preservation Of Musical Cultural Heritage

Summary/Abstract: This report draws attention to the issues related to the preservation of music cultural heritage. It is focused on the types of musical documents, with the main focus being on the nature and characteristics of the information carriers – sound recordings and the corresponding sound - recording devices. The problem related to the preservation and storage of the musical documentary heritage by the adopted strategy „from possession to access” is studied. A major trend in tracing the path in the preservation and storage of music collections has outlined new technologies as an element in the preservation of musical artifacts.
