Summary/Abstract: This paper presents research on holiday buildings built during the communist period in Wielkopolska, focusing on holiday cottages. It discusses the historical and social context of the summer houses built by institutional developers after 1958 and presents their types. Focusing on holiday cottages, the paper identifies the most common original functional arrangements, their variously shaped masses or architectural detail. It also presents examples of the changes that holiday cottages unde- rwent after their privatisation in the 1990s, and discusses the situation that arose as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
