Summary/Abstract: The period 1945-1960 was very intense for Albania concerning its political and economic relations. The coming into power of the Albanian communists after the liberation of the country at the end of the November 1944, was followed by a rude exercise of power which left the country powerless in both political and economic terms. The above mentioned timeline is brought in this paper through authentic research presenting to the public for the first time the true meaning of the Albanian-Soviet relations mainly being focused in economic terms. This research is divided in two parts because of the huge material found in the Albanian archives recently declassified about the economic relations of Albania with the socialist camp and the Soviet Union in particular. The huge amount of credits granted to Albania from the part of the Soviet Union made possible the economic and consequently the political survival of the Albanian communist regime. The numbers that we are presenting in this paper show beyond any doubt the total vassalage of the Albanian government towards the Soviet Union. The wrong investments of these huge credits and loans for such a small country as Albania in the heavy industry, would made the country totally dependent from the foreign loans and credits where the Soviet Union had primal role. In the first part of this research, are presented with accurate details all the Soviet credits granted to Albania from 1945 until 195 8. The total amount of those credits was 742.100.000 rubles. In the second part of this paper which would be published in the next edition of this review, would be presented the problems that Albania was facing at that time from the exercise of coercive economic and political policies from the Soviet Union till the total break of relations between the two countries and how much from these loans Albania has liquidated in favor of the Soviet Union.
