Nowa Huta Cultural Park in the light of municipal and UNESCO documents and ethnological research

Summary/Abstract: The objective of the cultural park is to extend territorial protection over urban heritage and to assure social and economic development of the place in relation to the urban and natural environment. It is based on a broad understanding the notion of cultural heritage, including its intangible aspects. The paper analyses documents related to the process of establishing the Nowa Huta Cultural Park and confronts them with the UNESCO concept of cultural parks. The author’s ethnographic research has also been applied.
