Summary/Abstract: The aim of this investigation was to analyze way of life, sense of coherence and subjective health assessment of educationalists. A. Antonovsky (1987) “Orientation to Life Questionnaire” was used in order to determine the Sense of Coherence and three components of Sense of Coherence: Comprehensibility, Manageability and Meaningfulness. Comprehensibility means that whatever happens to a person, he is able to make sense of it and understand it as structured, predictable, and explicable. Manageability means that either the resources are available to one to meet the demands posed by the stimuli, or one has a way to find them. Meaningfulness involves having a sense of meaning in the important areas of one’s life or recognizing these demands as challenges, worthy of investment and engagement. Questionnaire for getting data about way of life (smoking, using alcohol, making sports) and subjective assessment of physical and mental health created by authors were also used as evaluational tools. 264 educationalists of 21–67 years old age (mean age 40,34 years) participated in the survey. By sex respondents divided this way: 200 (75,8 %) women and 64 (24,2 %) men. 32 % of respondents worked in colleges and universities, 67,4 % of respondents worked in secondary and professional schools. 20,5 % of respondents had till 5 years of teaching‘ experience, 22 % – from 6 till 10 years, 26,9 % – from 10 till 20 years and 30,7 % − more than 20 years of teaching‘ experience. Results showed that SOC of smokers and nonsmokers didn’t differ (p > 0,05), but making sports educationalists had higher SOC than not making (t(262) = 2,842; p = 0,005). It was found that educationalists who didn’t use alcohol had higher level of SOC component “comprehensibility” (t (262) = –1,996, p = 0,047). Got results showed that educationalists who had higher level of SOC more often assessed their subjective physical and mental health as better and educationalists who had lower level of SOC more often assessed their subjective physical and mental health as worse (p = 0,0001).
