Facilitating Change in Teachers’ Views of Teaching Mathematics

Summary/Abstract: As part of the reform movement the importance of teachers’ professional development has been acknowledged. In this paper we report of the professional development project in Estonia, where mathematics teachers participated in a community of practice. Research on participating teachers’ views of mathematics teaching was carried out. The paper presents an overview of the changes in teachers’ beliefs in a period of one and a half years when they participated in the development project.
