Summary/Abstract: Obituary for Professor Helena Flidrová, a renowned Slavist and Russist who passed away on January 6, 2024. Her career was closely tied to the Department of Slavonic Studies at Palacký University in Olomouc, where she graduated in 1962 and later became a professor in 2002. Flidrová's research primarily focused on the grammatical structure of the Russian language, particularly its syntax in comparison with Czech. She co-authored a textbook on Russian syntax, which remains a key resource in Czech universities. In her later years, she explored grammatical syncretism and supervised numerous theses and dissertations on the topic. Flidrová was known for her curiosity, kindness, and sense of humor, and she continued to contribute to academia until her passing. Her funeral was held on January 15, 2024, in Olomouc, attended by family, friends, colleagues, and students.
