Summary/Abstract: This article sets to analyse the policy of the communist authorities towards the Ukrainian population living in Poland’s territory following the Second World War. The political concepts of the people’s government concerning the issue of national minorities were implemented by pursuing a strictly statecontrolled ethnic and migration policy. In line with the idea of creating a monoethnic state, the Ukrainian population was resettled from their previous places of resi-dence. The first wave of deportations of Ukrainians from the southeastern territories of Poland took place under the 1944 agreement on the evacuation of Polish citizens from the territory of the USSR and of the Ukrainian population from the territory of Poland between the Polish Com-mittee of National Liberation and the Government of the Ukrainian Socialist Republic. Starting from 1947, the Ukrainian population was forcibly resettled to the Recovered Territories as part of the Operation Vistula, which ended in 1950. The author of this article expounds both the assumptions of the resettlement and the concepts concerning the assimilation of the Ukrainian population in new places of settlement.
