Summary/Abstract: Various polls show that in comparison to other European countries Poles are one of the most euro-enthusiastic nations. This attitude, however, is not reflected in electoral participation rates. The approaching 2024 European Parliament elections give a natural stimulus to reflect on some election issues. The previous record-breaking turnout has not changed the social per-ception of the European Elections. Polish voters set a lot greater store by other elections (local, parliamentary and presidential) than by elections to the European Parliament. The present analysis of 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 elections gives a detailed account of CBOS (Centre for Public Opinion Research) reports that allow to recreate the dynamics of electoral preferences. The analysis shows that there is no direct corelation between the attitudes towards EU and elec-toral participation rates. Voters’ responses point out what has had a negative impact on voter turnout – insufficient knowledge of European institutions, lack of recognition of the influence of European institutions on the country’s internal and foreign policies and the disillusionment with the Polish political scene and the quality of political debate in 2019.
