Summary/Abstract: The paper presents and analyzes the results of a recent survey among Romanian migrant writers in Italy, carried out by Afrodita Carmen Cionchin and published on the online bilingual journal “Orizzonti culturali italo-romeni”, registered in Italy with ISSN 2240-9645 (www.orizzonticulturali.it). Various topics of great interest and actuality are discussed and reflect a complex and varied reality: there are those who write only in Italian (such as Andreea Simionel, Cristina Stănescu, Irina Ţurcanu) and those who write and publish in both languages (such as Viorel Boldiş, Ingrid Beatrice Coman-Prodan, Alexandra Firiţă, Lăcrămioara Maricica Niță, Lucia Ileana Pop, Lidia Popa, Alina Monica Ţurlea). Several authors have been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but there are also those who returned to live in Romania after twenty years. As for gender distribution, women are in the majority. Fiction and poetry are the most represented literary genres. Some of the interviewees also translate Romanian books into Italian and, occasionally, even Italian books into Romanian. The objective of the research is to inquire about the current condition of the Romanian migrant writers in Italy, about the deeper meanings of writing in a language different from the native one, the language of the country of adoption, about the main issues and the peculiarities of their literary creation.
